The waters outside Valdez are filled with various types of whales. Although no tour company can guarantee a sighting, it would be a shame not to try. And sometimes you beat the beauty of a jumping humpback whale. They make the Prince William Sound a part of their annual summer trek. With the largest population of bears in the world, we had great opportunities to see these wild animals up close against breathtaking landscapes as a backdrop in Katmai National Park, Alaska! In early summer, the bears leave their dens and come to this area for the breeding season and to feed on the grasses that sprout in the spring. We saw the bears as close as 50 yards!
